Weave Poles for Idiots

Where the idiot is me…  For some reason, there are NO agility programs in northern Utah (that I can find – it seems like the closest classes are in Wyoming, and Wyoming is not as convenient as you might think), and so I'm going to give this a try on my own.   I have a couple of inexpensive hurdles that work just fine, and at the suggestion of the Mango Momma got a set of 6 competition-grade weave poles.  And no idea how to start.

So, does anyone have any suggestions on books/websites/whatever that can give me some direction?  I have a very good dog trainer, but she doesn't have any agility experience.  However, since we're not looking to compete (again… no place to do it), I'm not worried about having a competition trainer.  And if I have some instructions along the lines of "Your dog should do this" or "Start your dog here and get them to do this to get them to understand what they are supposed to do" she'll be able to help me get the dogs doing what they are supposed to.  So, I'm just looking for a starter's guide.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I am in process of making an official Mango Momma (not a professional dog trainer) video of how to do weave poles. Stay tuned.

But here are the first two rules;

1) All errors are handler errors.

2) No cookies for doing it wrong even when the handler makes an error.

Hi Liz,

Don't know if you read Bert's Blog : http://fourleggedviews.blogspot.com/ Buy they are in Utah and she seems pretty aware of dog stuff there.  Bert seems to do just about everything…  Vickie may have some referrals…
